We do sugest you taking laptop with you since you could make a on-site trial on software.

Speaker

Dr. Lynn An, COMSOL Senior Technical Engineer

Lynn An received his Ph. D degree in Communications and Information Systems from Beihang University, China. The several research topics he had been involved in were also done in collaborations with researchers in the US, such as those from Bell Labs, New Jersey Institute of Technology and Pennsylvania State University. He also has been conducting tens of COMSOL seminars and working directly with customers to solve their technical problem and develop their business.

Introduction

This course combines the introductory and advanced COMSOL courses into a 2-day intensive training. The course contains the whole working flow modeling in COMSOL Multiphysics. In the first day, we start at an introductory level, including Drawing, Meshing, and Postprocessing in COMSOL Multiphysics. Then we will lead the student through topics needed in all analyses, including solvers manage, coupling variables, adding and modifying equations in the second day.

The goal is to immerse the student in all of the main aspects of using COMSOL so that he or she can feel comfortable with most of the commands accessible from the user interface and confident that they can be productive solving simulation problems with COMSOL.

This course is suitable for anyone interested in using COMSOL Multiphysics for the mathematical modeling of physics phenomena such as heat transfer, transport phenomena, fluid dynamics, electromagnetics, photonics, structural mechanics, and acoustics. No previous experience with COMSOL Multiphysics is required.

Day 1, 09:00-11:40am, 14:00-17:00pm

On the first day your working knowledge of COMSOL is how to build the model and process the solution, including Drawing, Meshing, and Postprocessing.

l         An introduction to the overall COMSOL workflow

l         Geometry drawing in COMSOL Multiphysics

l         Geometry import from other CAD programs

l         Best practices for meshing geometry

l         Post-processing, and refining your model

l         Introduction to modeling of multiphysics heat transfer, chemical reaction, transport phenomena problems

Day 2, 09:00-11:40am, 14:00-17:00pm

On this second day your working knowledge of COMSOL will be expanded so that you may become a senior user.

l         Efficient solver selection

l         Solvers manager

l         Setting up couplings between physics and equations

l         Using coupling variables

l         Setting up global equations and ODE's

l         Introduction to weak form

According to the length of the course and the interests of the participants, some or all of the above will be considered.
